Kitchen on Fire is devoted to advancing good health and general wellness. We work with individuals as well as some of the most well-known organizations in the Bay Area with Nutrition and Wellness Events. We provide a foundation for people from diverse background on staying healthy with delicious food and lifestyle habits. From creating nutritious eating options for medical professionals on long shifts, to cooking with a corporate sales team, Kitchen on Fire creates memorable events that transform the health of our clients. Our overarching goal is for each participant to walk away with new tools to support a healthier lifestyle.

Our nutrition activities can be customized to enhance knowledge and understanding through a combination of the following:

Corporate Wellness Events

The health of your company is directly related to the health of your team. Our team of chefs and nutrition consultants provide nutrition and wellness education in a fun and relaxed environment that encourages learning new ideas to support a healthier lifestyle through cooking and delicious food. We work with some of the most well-known organizations in the Bay Area to inspire teams to support each person’s healthy lifestyle choices. Our wellness events are a supportive component to meet your team’s wellness goals and are dedicated to establishing an environment that supports general health. Our events aim to increase awareness, tools, and habits to encourage positive wellbeing.

Examples of Wellness Events in Our Kitchen:

  • Healthy Eating On the Go! Eating for a 12-Hour Shift without a Kitchen: A local hospital hired our team to teach 60 doctors how to eat healthfully during their long shifts. We provided a fun, educational event to provide just what they needed. Our team of 10 from Kitchen on Fire set up a cooking venue at the conference center for the client’s off-site event. The client prepared and enjoyed six recipes.

  • University Athletic Team Healthy Eating and Nutrition Education

  • Professional Athletic Team Outing with targeted Nutrient Balance for Training Purposes

  • Introduced Employees of a Food Company to dishes with Specific Flavor Profiles for R&D Purposes and included Nutritional Education about the Ingredients

  • Private Nutrition Class: Any of our classes can be purchased for your own private class with your friends or workgroup.

  • World Diabetes Day: We were invited to be part of a community event for diabetes awareness and education. We provided a nutrition lecture, healthy cooking demonstrations and box lunches specially designed for diabetic needs.

  • Healthy Food Demonstrations, Samples, Recipes and Nutrition Discussion for Local Expo: Throughout the event we provided nutritional benefits of each recipe, nutritional tips on general healthy eating, the importance of seasonality and organics, etc.

  • Farmer’s Market and Other Public Cooking Demonstrations

  • Guest Lecturer for College Organics Program:  Health Benefits of Organic Foods – Talk to Lisa about speaking for your event.

  • Contributor to a wellness day: Nutrition Meetings with Seasonal Demonstrations, Topics of Choice and Catered appetizers: Do you have a group that has regularly scheduled meetings and would like some periodic healthy food demos, samples and education as well? One of our next events has requested we discuss some components from our ‘Heart Health’ and ‘Anti-inflammatory Living’ classes. We will serve appetizers and prepare demos with the requested profile.


Nutrition Classes

Pick your class format depending on the depth of nutrition focus that you are looking for.

Our nutrition discussion series are taught in different combinations (2, 3, or 4 week) of sessions. Each week builds on a specific nutrition topic and includes handouts and presentation materials to used to support your learning. A healthy snack and herb tea are served at each class. Nutrition Courses are taught in a live classroom setting in Oakland and Berkeley. Our 4-week series are four 90-minute nutrition classes—see the calendar for latest offerings.

Hands-on Cooking Classes with a Nutrition Presentation

Learn the nutritional aspects of specific health conditions or focus areas through a hands-on cooking class. Similar to our other cooking classes, these classes have a nutrition discussion for about 30 minutes at the beginning of the class and more time for Q&A at the end of the class. Classes are co-led with a lead chef from the school. These classes typically last about 3 ½ hours.

Cooking Classes to support Healthy Eating Habits

Learn the nutritional aspects of healthy cooking focuses on healthy recipes and techniques to meet specific goals through a hands-on cooking class. The class format is similar to our other cooking classes, though has a technique and/or menu discussion for about 10-20 minutes at the beginning of the class and more time for Q&A during our dinner time at the end of the class. Classes are co-led with a lead chef from the school.

Our Nutrition Philosophy

At Kitchen on Fire, we believe in a traditional view of nutrition and wellbeing, with a focus on whole foods and healthy cooking techniques. We make nutrition education and healthy cooking accessible to inspire people to take their health and wellbeing into their own kitchens at home. We aim to increase awareness of what can kinds of ingredients contribute to overall wellbeing, and inform attitudes that contribute to a healthier community. We hope to provide helpful resources, and to be a trusted source of information to support your health journey and personal goals.

Lisa Miller, is a Nutrition Consultant, the Nutrition Program Director, and an owner of Kitchen on Fire. She works alongside her team to infuse nutrition education into Kitchen on Fire classes and events.

Lisa is a Nutrition Consultant and a member of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals, she graduated with honors and earned a certification as a Nutrition Consultant from Bauman College. Learn more about Lisa’s background:
